Merchandise ordered through Jostens: Several families have reached out that their merchandise/graduation announcements have been delayed. We have been in contact with Jostens. If you feel that your merchandise/announcements will not arrive in a timely manner for you, we encourage you to contact Jostens for a refund, (which could take 2-4 weeks). As a reminder, senior merchandise and senior announcements are shipped to the graduate’s home address, and only the cap and gowns are delivered to the school.
Options for ordering your own announcements: We wanted to pass along a timely suggestion some people are using for announcements in case a graduate has not ordered any, or if in the situation of a delayed order. Places like Walgreens Photos or other photo ordering sites/locations offer coupons and same day orders. You can do this on your phone using photos you have stored there or any other type of device that you can access a website. As an example, I have provided step-by-step instructions here if you would like to know how to do this at Walgreens: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fv-AHQ3qVdPoDJQqhaUTSq48QxbsEOuyLLQbrjATGDo/edit?usp=sharing
Senior Breakfast: Friday, May 9, is the senior breakfast starting at 8:30 am. All seniors will report to the cafe at the beginning of school, take attendance and enjoy a big breakfast together. This is during an underclassmen testing day. They will move to the auditorium for a senior talent show. Sign ups end tomorrow night. We might even do some karaoke!
Senior School Walk-through: On Tuesday, May 13, GRC seniors will visit all the schools in the district via school buses. Seniors will eat lunch and then load the buses at 11:50 am. We plan to be back at GRC at 2:00 pm. Gowns are needed; caps are optional.
Baccalaureate: All seniors are invited to GRC's traditional Baccalaureate service honoring them on Sunday, May 18 at 6 pm. This year's event will be hosted at Calvary Christian Church, 15 Redwing Drive, Winchester. Graduates who would like to participate are asked to bring their graduation gown (no cap) and arrive by 5:30 pm to the church's gym. Baccalaureate will last about one hour and Calvary will provide refreshments afterwards.
Senior Sunset: Following Baccalaureate, Sunday, May 18, 7:45 pm, back at GRC, on the grassy area between the baseball/softball fields, we will have Senior Sunset. Bring a blanket, corn hole, games… Class photo on baseball field at 8:30 pm
Senior Exams: Senior finals will be Wednesday, May 14, and Thursday, May 15. Senior final grades are due by 8 am, Friday, May 16.
Graduation practice: All practices are required. Seniors need to take care of all grades, financial obligations, and chromebook/charger return prior to this time. May 16 is the first day of practice and it is the seniors last full day of school. It is the only FULL day of practice and it is mandatory. Seniors will report to the auditorium for attendance at the beginning of school. Because the graduation line up will be created on this day, any student who is not present will be added to the end of the line. Students who are AP testing or involved in a school activity will have an excused absence and their spot will be held. Students are expected to stay all day – no early leaves for co-op (make arrangements ahead of time with your employer). Monday, May 19, Wednesday, May 21, and Thursday, May 22 are our three additional practice days. We will practice both inside and outside. Practice will start at 8:30 am each day in the auditorium and go to approximately 12:30 pm. Students will be dismissed from the auditorium and will exit there. Seniors will not be allowed to go through the building (due to supervision and underclassmen finals). If they need to get back into the school, they will have to go outside, to the front of the building, and be escorte if allowed to enter. In the event that a student cannot attend one of the practices, they need to email autumn.cecil@clark.kyschools.us ahead of time to keep their spot in line.
Graduation: Graduation is 7:00 pm, Friday night, May 23, at GRC. The plan is for the ceremony to take place outside at the Cardinal Stadium (football field). If rain is expected, the call will be made well ahead of time and the ceremony will be moved indoors on the same date. Each graduate will receive tickets for an inside ceremony ahead of time in case the venue changes. Only people with tickets will be allowed in the arena (gym). There will be overflow areas with screens for people who do not have a ticket. All of our venues are handicap accessible; no prior arrangements need to be made, but a ticket will be required if moved indoors. → More graduation details will be provided as we get closer to the date.
Diplomas: Graduates will pick up their diplomas after the ceremony in a designated area at the school. Students will be expected to have already taken care of all financial/chromebook obligations. → More information to follow.
Project Graduation: Project Graduation is a fun filled night for seniors and a guest. It is hosted at GRC on graduation night (May 23) and will start at 11:00 pm. There will be tons of prizes, games, and food all night. Students will be expected to stay the entire night. Seniors need to fill out a form with Mrs. Jones in the upper admin area. → More information to follow.
Please reach out if you have any questions.
